About 40 public and private publishers are taking part in this event and are exhibiting nearly 10,000 new titles in various fields of culture, politics, economics and literature, as well as a wide variety of children’s books.

The days of the exhibition include an extensive cultural program, including the screening of films, the organization of recitals and concerts celebrating the Syrian heritage, and seminars with the participation of prominent intellectuals and figures of Syrian literature.

The Palestinian Writers’ Union participates in the event with a stand that attracted the attention of the attendees, as it exhibits books of Palestinian literature and others that speak of the resistance of the Palestinian people and their struggle against the Israeli occupier.

Speaking to journalists, the Minister of Culture, Diala Barakat, considered that the opening of the book fair in these circumstances, in which the country is experiencing a sensitive situation of blockade, war and Israel’s aggression, is a challenge, and is part of the Ministry’s plan of action to strengthen thought, culture and national belonging. jrr/arm/mem/fm
