Cuba’s loyalty to Che’s example in Bolivia

La Paz, Oct 8 (Prensa Latina) The residents of La Higuera, Bolivia, are witnesses today of the loyalty of Cubans to the example of Commander Ernesto Che Guevara, after a delegation from the Caribbean island paid tribute to the guerrilla hero.

The Cuban Consul General in Santa Cruz, Dalai Lamar, led the simple ceremony at the doors of the old school where the author of the book Guerrilla Warfare was assassinated by soldiers in the service of the United States Central Intelligence Agency on October 9, 1967.

In the presence of the president of the Bolivian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba-La Paz, Alidson Gómez, the Venezuelan ambassador, César Trómpiz, his family and delegates to the National Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, Lamar spoke in which she highlighted the historical significance of October 8, the date on which, after his rifle was rendered useless in combat, Che was captured.

After laying a floral offering and as part of this tribute, the consul performed the pioneer initiation of the Cuban child Pedro Fidel Valdés, around whose neck she placed the blue scarf that accredits him as such, in a symbolic ceremony.

The Bolivian movement of solidarity with Cuba evokes and pays homage this Tuesday to Che Guevara, on the occasion of the 57th anniversary of his presence in the Andean Amazonian country.

Within this context, last weekend, different social organizations gathered in Valle Grande at the National Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba issued a political declaration in which they reiterated the demand that the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States be eliminated. Likewise, they demanded the elimination of the name of the largest of the Antilles from the list unilaterally drawn up by the North American Government of supposed sponsoring countries of terrorism.

“We declare our irrevocable decision to continue the fight together with the people and government of Cuba to end the genocidal blockade and for the removal of Cuba from the list of sponsoring countries of terrorism,” reiterated the delegates to the forum.

They also criticized “the onslaught of imperialism in the Middle East through the genocidal state of Israel and its Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, who are extending their criminal war” to the peoples of Palestine, Lebanon, Syria and Iran.

The document adds a call to organized left-wing militants to follow the legacy of the universal guerrilla and eternal commander Che Guevara with the priority of fighting fascism.

“(…) Consequently, the present organizations subscribe to the initiative born in Caracas, Venezuela, convened by President Nicolás Maduro as a result of the World Congress against fascism and neo-fascism to be part of the Anti-Fascist International (…)”, concludes the declaration.
