Paintings of Gandhi and Colombian war victims in Indian museum

New Delhi, Oct 7 (Prensa Latina) A work of art on Mahatma Gandhi, created by relatives of survivors of the conflict in Colombia, is now part of the collection of one of the largest museums dedicated to the Father of the Nation of India.

The Chacana Weavings project and the Colombian embassy to New Delhi donated to the Gandhi Smriti Museum Art Gallery (Gandhi Remembrance) the piece, with more than 114 thousand glass beads, called beads, spun impeccably with the image of the Indian hero, as an offering to who is a global symbol of peace and justice.

The painting was delivered to the cultural institution on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition Urdiendo la vida para Tejer la paz, by Tejidos Chacana, which consists of 15 paintings with images of victims of the Colombian conflict, handmade by their relatives.

The Colombian ambassador, Hugo Echeverri, underscored that in the Colombian project weaving is an exercise in healing, peace, dialogue, resilience, integration and forgiveness.

In this sense, he considered it appropriate to celebrate the opening of the exhibition in a place where Mahatma Gandhi spent his last days in his non-violent struggle for unity and for the future of India.
