Pyongyang, Oct 7 (Prensa Latina) The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) should be thrown into the trash-can of history as soon as possible.

The state news agency KCNA today reproduces a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs according to which the military pact has degenerated under the logic and double standards of the United States, citing as an example the constant instigation of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

The Foreign Ministry blamed NATO and its warlord, Washington, for bringing Europe closer to a stage of nuclear war and for “a brazen attitude” by blaming others for the climate of insecurity in the Old Continent and elsewhere to justify their hegemonic plans.

It also condemned US attempts to stigmatize friendly relations between the DPRK and other sovereign nations, in a tacit allusion to Pyongyang’s ties with Russia and China.

The declaration also accuses Washington of exacerbating tensions on the Korean Peninsula and the Asia-Pacific region and of trying to create a sort of NATO for that geographical area, and blames Washington for “the tragic consequences” that may result from such plans.

“The DPRK will make tremendous and continuous efforts to defend itself from the threat of the US and its acolytes, to preserve peace and security in the region, and to build a multipolar world based on international justice,” it stressed.
