Her coming is the “result of the sacrifices by men and women who fought tirelessly for freedom and equality” throughout Mexico’s history, the Ministry highlighted during the Monumental Flag Raising Ceremony at Campo Marte.
It likewise recalled that October marks the 200th anniversary of Mexico’s first Constitution and the inaguration of Guadalupe Victoria as the first President of the Republic, the basis for the consolidation of the current Mexican State.
“It is noteworthy that 200 years after the establishment of the First Mexican Republic, comes to power the first female President and Supreme Commander of the Mexican Armed Forces, proving the fruitful path that all the citizens of this great nation have paved to consolidate national sovereignty, and in this way, provide greater and better opportunities for future generations,” it referred.
The ceremony was led by General Jaime Gonzalez Avalos, Inspector and Comptroller General of the Army and Air Force.
Basic education authorities and students joined in encouraging students to worship and respect patriotic symbols.
