Israel denounced for using UNIFIL forces as human shields

Beirut, Oct 7 (Prensa Latina) The Lebanese Resistance (Hizbullah) today denounced Israeli attempts to use the United Nations Interim Force (Unifil) as human shields to hide the failure of its limited ground incursion.

According to a field officer of the Resistance, on Sunday the fighters reported an unusual movement by Israeli troops behind a UNIFIL military site on the outskirts of the border town of Maroun al-Ras, in the south of the country.

In statements to the pan-Arab channel Al Mayadeen, he specified that the operations room of Hizbullah ordered his men not to get involved with the enemy movement to protect the lives of the international soldiers.

In light of this incident, it said that Israel is using UNIFIL forces as human shields to hide its failure on the ground, after its repeated and unsuccessful attempts to penetrate towards Maroun al-Ras and the loss of dozens of its troops.

In a statement, the peacekeeping command expressed its concern about the recent activities of the Israeli army near one of the positions of the international command southeast of the town of Maroun al-Ras inside Lebanese territory.

UNIFIL described as dangerous and unacceptable the activities of the Israeli forces that undermine the security of the United Nations peacekeeping mission.

On this day, Resistance fighters attacked with rockets a group of settlements north of Haifa and a gathering of enemy forces in Beit Hillel.

Hezbollah announced that it had hit a concentration of Israeli troops on Al-Qala’a Hill in the town of Blida with missiles and artillery shells, as well as an attack on a gathering of enemy forces behind the Romaych Gate.

It also reported rocket fire on an enemy deployment in Tal al-Tayhat, achieving a precise hit.

According to Hebrew Channel 12, 40 rockets were launched from Lebanon towards the settlements of Nahariya and Kiryat Shmona, as well as 35 towards the settlements of Kfar Vardim and Karmiel.

The Israeli army acknowledged the death of 11 soldiers and another 100 wounded since the start of the limited ground campaign on the border with Lebanon.
