Salvadorans prepare shipment of medical supplies to Cuba

San Salvador, Oct 5 (Prensa Latina) Salvadorans are preparing a shipment of medical supplies to Cuba in support of its people, who are facing an economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States since 1960.

The initiative is being developed by the Schafik Handal Studies Center (CESH) in an effort called the Cuba Chapter, and is not identified with any political organization, since, according to its organizers, it is an effort by the people, by ordinary people regardless of their political affiliation.

Lourdes Argueta, one of the participants in the solidarity effort, said that they are inviting more people to join, while they will continue to collect medicines and organize ways to send them to Cuba.

We plan to send one or two containers a year with medicines and medical supplies for patients and health personnel, she said.

Recently, as part of the 6th Latin American School of Political Training that is taking place in Cuba, CESH representatives Karla Sánchez and Orlando Arévalo delivered a donation to the Leopoldito Martínez Hospital in San José de las Lajas, in western Mayabeque provinde.

The CESH organizers called on their compatriots to contribute by sending medicines to the Cuban people, who are facing serious shortages due to Washington’s blockade, despite their medical and scientific-technical potential.
