Cuban President calls for reducing fiscal deficit

Santa Clara, Cuba, Oct 4 (Prensa Latina) The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, called in the central province of Villa Clara to reduce the fiscal deficit in pursuit of national development.

During the Extraordinary Plenary Session of the Provincial Committee of the Party in this territory, located 278 kilometers east of Havana, Díaz-Canel explained the need to confront tax evasion, guarantee compliance with cash collection plans and strengthen the banking process, to strengthen the state budget.

According to the president, only with the amounts of fines and sanctions resulting from comprehensive fiscal audits, the planned budget deficit could be reduced by 16 percent, currently amounting to 1,053 million pesos. At the plenary session, Osnay Miguel Colina, first secretary of the Party in Villa Clara, explained the work of the organization in 2024, focused primarily on economic activity, agriculture, food production, combatting crime and health programs, as well as ensuring the sugar harvest.

Among the greatest difficulties analyzed by the militants is the failure to comply with physical production plans, delays in the delivery of milk to the industry and the cadre policy, three essential issues that affect income to the State budget and the food of the people.

Dilky Ponce Expósito, secretary of the Party in the city of Santa Clara, commented on the municipality’s strategy to confront these problems, a projection based on the mobilization of militants to assume responsibilities in leadership positions, based on their personal conditions, preparation, commitment and exemplary behavior.

Regarding the delegate’s accountability process to his constituents, Milaxy Sánchez, Provincial Governor, pointed out that it represents a daily space for debate and exchange of ideas between the people and the authorities, an ideal setting to seek solutions to current problems from the neighborhood.

The Extraordinary Plenary Session of the Party in Villa Clara represents the twelfth held in Cuba since September, as part of a strategy that seeks to both check the work with the indications made during previous visits of the Central Committee to the territory, as well as to seek solutions to problems detected previously.
