Santiago Jerez, deputy director of the Abril publishing house, commented that the volume gathers chronicles, photos, and comics published in different media when the athlete won his fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal in Paris, in the Greco-Roman wrestling.
The idea came from a call on social media to gather the excellent material dedicated during those August days to the man considered the best Cuban sportsman of all time, Jerez explained.
Published jointly by the Abril publishing house and Juventud Rebelde newspaper, the book is currently being edited and should be ready by February when the Book Fair will be held in Cuba.
Mijain Lopez became in Paris the first athlete in the world to win five consecutive gold medals in the same individual event, after winning in Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio de Janeiro 2016, and Tokyo 2020.
