Angola records GDP growth in first half of 2024

Luanda, Oct 3 (Prensa Latina) Angola’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the first half of 2024, registered a 4.6 percent growth, the Council of Ministers learned on Thursday at its ninth ordinary session, under the leadership of President João Lourenço.

On the meeting, authorities gave an account of the execution of the National Development Plan 2023-2027, reporting that figure, while the second quarter was 4.1 percent.

The final communiqué of the Council of Ministers’ session pointed to the continued increase in domestic production, mainly food, as one of the causes of this rebound.

The encounter, which had six items on the agenda, approved the creation of the Angolan Gender Observatory, a website designed to gather and make available quantitative and qualitative information, which will support the formulation and implementation of public policies for women.

The Observatory will further monitor indicators related to gender inequality and women’s rights, with a view to monitoring compliance with the country’s national and international commitments in this area.

The Council’s agenda included the evaluation of the draft presidential decree approving the Public Procurement Plan 2024-2028, an instrument that contains measures aimed at improving the functioning of the National Public Procurement System.
