Operation to repatriate Colombians from Lebanon is underway

Bogota, Oct 2 (Prensa Latina) An operation to return 117 Colombians who requested to be repatriated from Lebanon is underway on Wednesday, according to the Foreign Ministry.

The Colombians will return home on an Air Force flight, thanks to joint operation coordinated by several institutions, including Migration, the Ombudsman’s Office and the National Disaster Risk Management Unit, among others.

According to the source, the Colombian diplomatic and consular corps in Lebanon has worked to assist Colombians in the diaspora.

The statement said that the Immediate Reaction Group of the Foreign Ministry and departments of the Directorate of Assistance to Compatriots are monitoring what is happening with the flight and the situation in the Middle East.

The document added that the humanitarian flight from Beirut is estimated to land on Thursday at 4:30 (local time) at the Camilo Daza Military Air Transport Command (Catam), a military base of the Air Force.

The Boeing 737 plane participating in the repatriation carried on its outbound flight to the Lebanese capital a donation of medical equipment, kits with personal hygiene articles and food supplements.
