During a visit to Budapest, the capital of Hungary, Tshisekedi visited the Continental Automotive Hungary Kft company, which manufactures automotive electronic components, and voiced his intention to open a path for the DRC in this field.
Supported by its immense cobalt reserve, Kinshasa intends to “conquer the world of technology and, more specifically, enter the value chain of the battery industry for electric vehicles,” the Congolese Presidency posted on X.
The Continental Automotive Hungary Kft has seven plants, a tire trading center, a logistics center, and an artificial intelligence center in Hungary. The company employs around 8,000 people.
On Tuesday, the Congolese president met with a delegation of Hungarian entrepreneurs and the representative of a major investment bank to discuss investment opportunities in Democratic Congo, the source said.
Tshisekedi also held talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Parliament Speaker Laszlo Kover.
