Local media indicated that the action targeted Pentagon troops concentrated in the oil fields of Al-Omar and Konico, in the province of Deir Ezzor, about 450 kilometers northeast of the Syrian capital.

The sources revealed there was damage to a helicopter landing strip in the Al-Omar field and to a training center and a shooting range within the Koniko base. The action coincided with a massive Iranian ballistic missile attack against Israel.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the operation, some media attributed it to the Iranian militias present in this Levantine nation to help the Syrian army in the fight against terrorism.

Washington maintains some 15 bases on Syrian territory without the consent of the Damascus government or the approval of the United Nations.

Syria has repeatedly denounced this presence, which it calls an occupation, and asserted that the actions of the US military on national territory encourage terrorist activity and aim to destabilize the country and plunder its wealth.
