“I am absolutely convinced that, just like last year, we will manage to exceed the goal set by Presidents Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping in 2024,” the diplomat added in statements to Sputnik. “This certainty arises from the development of investment cooperation between the two countries,” he said.
Trade between Russia and China in 2023 grew by 26.3 percent, reaching a record figure of 240.11 billion dollars. Previously, Putin and Xi set the task of doubling trade from 100 billion dollars in 2018 to 200 billion by 2024.
Russia and China commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations on October 2nd. The Soviet Union was the first country to recognize the People’s Republic of China, after its proclamation as such.
