Copeco’s head of operations, Luis Salinas, said the rainfall destroyed 35 houses and wrecked considerable havoc on another 617, affecting over 5,470 families nationwide.
The official reported that 76 communities remain isolated due to the overflowing of rivers, and while some parts of the country send more optimistic reports, access roads still need to be reestablished with them.
Judging by the information released, the most affected regions are Choluteca, Valle and Lempira, where the damage is more severe.
To help cope with the situation, Copeco workers are distributing humanitarian aid to the affected families and continue their work to provide support in the most affected areas.
Copeco authorities warned that the rains will continue to pour in the next few hours, with precipitations more likely to occur in the western, southern, eastern and central regions of Honduras.
