“I feel very proud, very happy that we attended everyone, we listened to everyone, we respected everyone, but we gave preference to those most in need. We put into practice our principle that for the good of all, first the poor, and it was not only a proclamation, it was not only a motto,” he stressed.
The president, who will hand over the presidential sash tomorrow to the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum, highlighted that this principle became a reality, because poverty and inequality were reduced, despite the pandemic, “which caused us so much pain and knocked down our economy as it had not happened in more than a century”.
He said that, since the budget was distributed to all, salaries were increased as had not happened in many decades, since corruption was not allowed and there were no luxuries in the government, it was possible to improve the living and working conditions of most Mexicans.
“I am also very happy because tomorrow I will hand over the presidential sash to an exceptional woman, a humanist, a woman full of love, humility and good feelings,” he said, referring to Claudia Sheinbaum, who will become Mexico’s first female president.
