Sisoulith considered the presence of Ojeda, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), and the delegation accompanying her in his country, as a significant step to enhance cooperation and fraternal relations between the two nations, which, he said, will contribute to strengthening bilateral relations.
Ojeda, in turn, thanked the Laotian authorities for the warm welcome she received and informed the President about the state of cooperation between the two countries’ Attorney General’s Offices.
Also, this Monday, the Cuban attorney general held a working meeting with the President of the Supreme People’s Prosecutor Office of Laos, Xaysana Koutphouthone, with whom she assessed the implementation of the memorandum signed by both parties in Havana in 2018.
Koutphouthone and Peña Ojeda described the meeting as a crucial basis for the future development of both institutions’ work, to increase the law’s role in managing the state and society, as well as the fight against transnational crimes.
At the end of the meeting, the Attorneys General of Laos and Cuba inked a cooperation plan for 2025-2026, which includes, among other actions, the participation in specialized events in which each country takes place, and the holding of virtual exchanges on issues such as crimes derived from the use of technology and human trafficking.
