When depositing the document on September 27 at the headquarters of the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SER), headquarters of ALCE, the Cuban ambassador to that nation, Marcos Rodríguez, stressed that it is a consensual policy in his country to support everything that leads to Latin American integration.
“For Cuba, being able to count on this new instrument is very important, as it relates to its productive capacity, its economy. It means thinking about the impact on its agriculture, on the development of the country; it means to have an information system, a database, everything that this Agency can provide,” he said.
For his part, the general director of American Regional Organizations and Mechanisms of the Mexico’s Foreign Ministry, Daniel Cámara, said that “ALCE is a faithful reflection of regional cooperation, it is one of the flagship projects of the two years of Mexico’s pro tempore presidency in the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, during the biennium 2020-2021.”
He added that it is “an example of what we can achieve when, in a coordinated manner within the region, we work for a common good and objective,” while now, he said, the really important thing begins, which is to launch the Agency.
The ALCE will be an international organization that coordinates cooperation activities for the exploration and research of space technology, for the benefit of the countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
