The plan provides for an increase of 1,300 the number of police officers on the streets and the members of police for Investigation to 243 to combat crime, the main concern of Chileans. The amount allocated to confront organized crime within prisons will also be increased to more than 28 billion pesos (31 million dollars).

Given the drought, forest fires and other phenomena that affect the country every year, the Government plans to increase financing for the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service by 30 percent.

Boric said that, despite the awful diagnoses, this year an increase in the Gross Domestic Product of 2.6 percent is estimated.

The head of state called on Congress to approve the budget proposal that will be presented tomorrow.
