Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba concludes in Bogota

Bogota, Sep 29 (Prensa Latina) With a tribute to Cuba by the graduates of the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM), the 33rd National Meeting of the Colombian Movement of Solidarity with the Caribbean nation will conclude today in Bogota.

During the course of the day, the final declaration of the event will also be read and the pro tempore coordination of the presidency of the movement will be handed over to the activists of the city of Cali.

Since last Friday, the delegates participated in conferences and talks that allowed them to be updated on the situation of Cuba, and to learn how the tightening of the U.S. economic blockade against Cuba is causing havoc in social spheres.

The president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples and Hero of the Republic, Fernando González, who was invited to the meeting, told those present in a couple of speeches about the importance of the work they are doing to exalt the need for the right of the Cuban people to live in peace and without the siege imposed by Washington.

He described as fundamental every attempt to counteract the manipulation against the revolutionary process, and to defend that Latin America and the Caribbean continue to be a zone of peace.

Also the deputy director of the Fidel Castro Center and deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power (unicameral parliament), Elier Ramirez, emphasized to the audience that, despite the policy of asphyxiation applied by the United States, his country works and resists inspired by the example left by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
