In a Sunday sermon, the cardinal underlined that the death of Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah left wounds in the hearts of the Lebanese.

The Maronite reference emphasized that the successive witness of Christian and Muslim leaders is the bulwark of unity among the Lebanese.

Al Rai called on the international community to work to stop the cycle of war, killings and destruction. “We are all losers in the war, that is why it is necessary to adopt negotiations,” he said.

The cardinal insisted on the need to elect a president of the Republic who will stop the fire and engage in peace negotiations.

The Lebanese Resistance confirmed yesterday the assassination of its secretary general, Hassan Nasrallah, as a result of Israeli aggressions against the southern suburb of Beirut.

Hizbullah declared its leader a martyr in the path of liberation of Al-Quds (Jerusalem), a struggle he had undertaken since 1992, and who died in Israel’s most powerful offensive operation against the nation of the cedars since 2006.
