At a press conference, a spokesman also highlighted the extension of export restrictions on key technologies such as quantum computing and semiconductor manufacturing.
The Council pointed out that in recent years the United States has overly broadened the concept of national security, politicized and militarized economic and technological issues, which runs opposite to free market principles.
The spokesman described these measures as unilateral and protectionist practices that seriously affect the stability of global supply chains, especially in the semiconductor manufacturing sector.
According to the statement, at the recent third meeting of the APEC 2024 Business Advisory Council, representatives from the Chinese and U.S. business communities presented a joint proposal.
“This initiative pushed for the adoption of supply chain cooperation principles for the Asia-Pacific region, underscoring the importance of maintaining openness and non-discrimination in supply policies,” the spokesperson added.
Likewise, the meeting included in its report to APEC leaders an explicit opposition to the decoupling and disruption of supply chains, the Council recalled.
