The Spokesman’s Office further conveyed opposition and condemnation to all actions that harm innocent civilians and any actions that aggravate contradictions and lead to escalation in the region.
“China urges the parties concerned, especially Israel, to take immediate measures to de-escalate the tension and prevent the conflict from further increasing or even getting out of control,” he added.
In the Foreign Ministry’s view, the tense situation between Lebanon and Israel is an indirect manifestation of the Gaza conflict.
“The top priority at the moment is to implement the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, quell the fighting in Gaza as soon as possible and safeguard peace and stability in the Middle East,” the statement stressed.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi recently met at UN headquarters with his Lebanese counterpart Abdallah Bou Habib and expressed Beijing’s support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, security and dignity.
