Venezuela urges on confronting neo-fascist practices

Havana, Sep 27 (Prensa Latina) The Venezuelan Ambassador to Cuba, Orlando Maneiro, assured on Friday in Havana that effective international policies must be pursued, and actions must be taken to confront neo-fascist actions in every region of the world.

Maneiro stressed that “the hegemonic, extremist and terrorist projections carried out by the right wing in his country, and other nations of Latin America and the rest of the continents should be called by their name: fascism.”

We reiterate our will for meetings like these to continue, to link up with platforms and movements with the purpose of expanding the foundations and principles of the Anti-Fascist International Group, the diplomat said at the closing of the panel Fascism and Neo-Fascism in the Contemporary World.

The Venezuela’s President, Nicolas Maduro, recently announced the creation of an Anti-Fascist, Anti-Colonialist, Anti-Imperialist International Group to lead the present and future battles for a different world.

Maduro presented the proposal to establish this committee at the closing of the World Congress against Fascism, Neo-Fascism and Similar Expressions, held in Caracas.

On Friday, the Venezuelan ambassador insisted that fascist expressions have subtle and adaptable forms, expressed on social networks and with the use of new information and communication technologies.

According to the diplomat, fascism poses a serious threat to humanity and there must be a global will, as well as unity of thought and action to prevent it from undermining progressive projects and nullifying the reasoning capacity of young people.

The meeting, organized in the May Hall of the Cuba Pavilion in Havana, was sponsored by the Venezuelan Embassy to Havana and the Cuban Agency of the United Nations.
