The National Border Service (Senafront) also detained four Colombian coyotes in the operation, noted the report.
The two boats, coming from Colombia towards the community of Carreto in the Guna Yala ethnic region, were intercepted by agents after having fled after a stop sign, the statement said.
The first boat was carrying 36 migrants and the second one had 38 people of different nationalities on board,” Senafront added.
The security agency said that both boats were seized, as well as a cell phone and a satellite radio.
Statistics of the National Migration Service (SNM) show that so far this year 257,974 people have entered the Darien jungle, mostly Venezuelans, on their way to the United States.
The SNM estimates that if the number of undocumented immigrants is compared with the same period in 2023 (392,385), there is a difference of 134,411, equivalent to a decrease of 34 percent.
