Ahead of the significant date, which falls on October 1, the Minister of the Presidency, Juan Carlos Orillac, voiced the interest of the Government headed by José Raul Mulino to increase China’s participation trade and relevant infrastructure projects in Panama, where Beijing is one of the main users of the Canal Zone.
He also thanked China for its support to the campaign developed by Mulino, as he seeks to have Panama excluded from the tax discriminatory lists, a measure that affects the country’s image and its international economic relations.
During the ceremony, also attended by the ministers of Security, Frank Abrego, and Education Lucy Molinar, among other officials, the Chinese ambassador, Xu Xueyuan, said that her country is willing to work together with the new Panamanian government to foster talks and communication, based on high-level exchanges and practical cooperation- “China follows the principles of mutual respect and reciprocal benefit in the development of its relations with Panama.
The one-China principle is the political basis for these ties,’ she stressed.
