Darkness brings early end to Baseball Blind World Cup

Slough, United Kingdom, Sep 27 (Prensa Latina) Today's game between Cuba and the Netherlands, in the second leg of the World Cup for the Blind, was postponed due to darkness, when Cubans were winning 8-1 in two innings.

After signing a six-run tie with defending champions Italy in the first match of the day, Roberto Carmona’s players imposed themselves against the Dutch on the field of Farnham Park, with a 14-hit attack before the challenge was stopped.

A seven-run lead seemed to be enough for the Cuban team to win, and get one step closer to the semifinals.

Despite the fact that the protagonists are blind, each team has a conventional athlete who plays second base and coaches who guide the runners around the bases, so natural or artificial light is indispensable.

After the results of the first date of confrontations, the Italians lead the phase B with a win and a tie, Cuba with its tie remains waiting to define this last clash, followed by China with a win and a setback, and the Netherlands with a pair of failures.
