Cuba ties Italy in World Cup Baseball for Blind

Slough, United Kingdom, Sep 27 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban blind baseball team tied today with Italy at six runs in its debut in the second edition of the World Cup that is being held in this English city.

The team led by Roberto Carmona fought against the reigning champions and managed to score two runs at the time of picking up the bats to tie the score, thanks to two hits by Ivan Gordo and Yaniel Perez.

After each team scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning on the Farnham Park grass, the embrace was agreed upon, as dictated by the competition rules.

For the Italians Giuseppe Tocco and Giorgio Napoli hit home runs to drive in three runs between them and for the Cubans, Perez himself hit one with empty bases.

The Italian team, led by Marco Corazza, defeated China 4-1 in the opening game and with this draw they are close to qualifying for the semi-finals of the tournament.

The Antillean team will play their second game this same day, this time against the Netherlands, who were defeated 3-0 by the Asian giant in their first outing.

In the other section, the United States beat Hungary 1-0, but were then defeated by Pakistan with a score of 8-3, while the British hosts also beat Hungarians with a score of 4-0.

According to the competition rules, the first classified team of a group will face the second place of the other, the winners will fight on Sunday for the gold medal and the defeated for the bronze.

All the games will be played in five episodes or one hour and 30 minutes and the current inning must be completed even if the game time has expired.
