Colombian President demanded the lifting of economic blockades

Bogota, Sep 27 (Prensa Latina) The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, insisted again today on the need to lift the economic blockades imposed on some countries since, in his opinion, they violate human rights and cause migratory waves.

“The poverty that appears before a massive migration is caused by shocks, many of them external: the economic blockade imposed is one of them.

The blockade impoverishes the population and can kill by hunger, it is a crime with respect to the rights of the human being in any part of the world’, the president wrote in his social network X.

The president added that millions of immigrants were received in Colombia and that they were welcomed as far as they could.

He also pointed out that the Colombian/Venezuelan border remains open and that there is no mass migration, while that same phenomenon is experiencing a substantial decrease in the Darien.

Stop blocking countries because they are blocking their peoples, the president remarked in his message.

This is the second occasion in less than a week in which the head of state calls for the elimination of blockades that subjugate countries and their peoples.

Last Tuesday, at the United Nations General Assembly, he commented that it is the powerful global oligarchy that allows the economic blockade of rebellious countries that do not fit into its domain, such as Cuba or Venezuela, because they need to show their power of destruction to the remaining 99 percent of humanity.
