Ghana wants Vietnamese partners to boost cocoa business

Hanoi, Sep 26 (Prensa Latina) Ghana's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, today expressed his country's interest in working with Vietnamese partners to take the cocoa business and its production to the next level.

Ampratwum-Sarpong, who is in charge of Political and Economic Affairs of the ministry, made the statement at a seminar aimed at boosting trade cooperation between Vietnam and Ghana, held the day before in southern Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the Ghanaian official, the two countries have opportunities for cooperation in various areas, including trade, investment, high-tech agriculture and energy.

Ghana, he said, has developed strategies to diversify its economy, including business conditions facilities for foreign investments, essentially in high-tech agriculture, infrastructure development, energy and tourism.

At the forum, it transpired that Ghana is currently Vietnam’s largest trading partner in the West African region, with bilateral trade reaching US$733 million in 2023.

Meanwhile, between January and last August, trade transactions between the two nations reached a value of approximately US$560.7 million, of which US$282.3 million corresponded to exports made by the Indochinese country.
