Cuba advocates the universalization of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, said the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The statement, expressed in a message on the social network X, stresses that this international agreement “clearly establishes the inhuman, immoral and ethically indefensible character of these weapons and also their illegality”.
The Foreign Ministry reaffirmed Cuba’s position, on the occasion of the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, which is celebrated every September 26, established by the United Nations General Assembly.
This day is used as an opportunity for the international community to reaffirm its commitment to global nuclear disarmament as a priority.
It also provides an opportunity to educate about the real benefits of eliminating such weapons and the social and economic costs of their permanence.
