Bolivian military leaders deny request for retirement

La Paz, Sep 26 (Prensa Latina) Unfounded and malicious rumors were dispelled in Bolivia with a statement from the Command-in-Chief of the Armed Forces that denies the alleged request for the retirement of the highest military authorities.

“In the last hours, false and unfounded rumors have circulated through various media, both traditional and digital, related to an alleged decision of the military command, the highest authorities of our Armed Forces, to request to pass to the active reserve,” the text states.

The official document adds that “the Command in Chief of the Armed Forces of the State categorically denies this erroneous and malicious information”.

In social media and some analysts in private television channels had spread on Monday and Tuesday, the alleged resignation of the three main military chiefs of the Plurinational State, Admiral Gonzalo Víctor Vigabriel, General Marco Antonio Peñaloza and General Jaime Soria Jardín.

According to the statement, these military leaders continue and will continue at the head of their respective functions, “committed to the defense of the homeland and the fulfillment of their institutional duties”.

In view of the rumors that circulated, the three high-ranking officers asked the public to be informed through the official channels of the Armed Forces and not to pay attention to false news that only seek to generate “confusion and destabilization”.
