Angola and Ivory Coast to strengthen bilateral cooperation

Luanda, Sep 26 (Prensa Latina) Angolan President João Lourenço and Ivory Coast Vice President Tiémoko Meyliet Koné expressed their interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries, Jornal de Angola reported today.

Both met in New York, United States, and in the dialogue they took stock of the implementation of the decisions taken between the two countries with the aim of strengthening alliances in key sectors such as the economy, security and sustainable development, the source said.

Angola and Ivory Coast signed agreements on Agriculture; Mines and Hydrocarbons; Health; Sports; Broadcasting; Diplomacy (political consultations); Intergovernmental Cooperation; Framework and Promotion of Youth; Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality; Water Resources; Culture and Trade, among others.

The day before, Lourenço met in New York with his counterpart from Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, with whom he discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation, according to the Angolan Foreign Ministry.

He also received the Infrastructure Advisor to the President of the United States, Amos Hochstein, and the President of the African Business Council, Florizelle Lizer.

Lourenço and Lizer discussed the organization of the United States-Africa economic forum, to be held in Angola in mid-2025.

The Angolan president also spoke with the head of the World Economic Forum, Borge Brende, and with the president of the International Crisis Group, Comfort Ero.
