Syria receives almost 7,000 Lebanese displaced persons

Damascus, Sep 25 (Prensa Latina) Some 7,000 Lebanese entered Syria today, the Deputy Governor of the Syrian province of Damascus-Camp, Jassem Al-Mahmoud informed on Wednesday.

He revealed in statements to the press that 6,697 Lebanese refugees and 17,850 Syrians entered the country, specifying that this figure includes only those registered by the immigration authorities at the Jedeidet Jabous border crossing.

We have set up a joint operations room between the Damascus City and Damascus-Camp governorates to welcome the displaced, the official assured.

Al- Mahmoud indicated that the accommodation centers were prepared with all necessary health services, water, electricity, blankets and food.

Earlier, Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad instructed the newly formed Government to take all possible measures to support Lebanon facing brutal and violent Israeli aggression.

In the same context, Health Minister Ahmed Damiriyeh stated Wednesday that all health facilities and medical points at the border crossings with Lebanon are fully ready to receive all displaced, whether Syrian or Lebanese, and provide them with the necessary health services completely free of charge.

The Lebanese Minister of Health, Firas Abyad, indicated that the number of victims of the Israeli aggression against Lebanon reached almost 600 deaths and 2,000 injured.
