Now the contribution of the Brics countries to the world economy has an unchanging growing trend, he said Wednesday while opening a meeting of the Presidium of the State Council of the Russian Federation.
Putin illustrated the trend with a series of figures: ‘The G7 in 1992, what was it, 45.5 percent of world GDP, and in 2022 it will be 30.5. The forecast for 2028 is 27.9 percent, the Russian leader pointed out.
And what about the Brics countries? In 1992, the Brics, excluding the new members of this organization, had a 16.7 percent share in the world GDP, and in 2022 the G7 had 30.5 and the Brics 31.4 percent, he remarked.
Putin reminded that at the same time, according to forecasts, in 2028 the GDP of the Brics will grow by 33.8 percent while that of the G7 by only 27.9. ‘The trend is what it is, it persists, it is not going anywhere.
These are objective processes that are not related to the current conjuncture of conflicts, even in the directions that we know today,’ he summarized.
