This demonstrates Vietnam’s responsibility towards the international community and its contribution to addressing traditional and non-conventional challenges at the global and regional levels, the nation’s Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan said at the farewell ceremony.
She also praised the country’s participation and achievements in the UN’s stability preservation efforts over the past decade as a significant aspect of the country’s multilateral relations.
Vietnam’s Director of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations Major General Pham Manh Thang said that the contingent heading to South Sudan and Abyei consists of the sixth second-level field hospital and the third team of military engineers.
He specified that the field hospital is formed by 63 members, all of whom are thoroughly trained in political, military, logistical, technical and medical, as well as peacekeeping skills, thus meeting all UN criteria and mission requirements.
