A 35 year old female police officer who worked in this capital took her own life, police unions reported.

The National Police Union (Sipolna in Spanish) reported the loss and expressed its condolences.

The number of suicides of police officers has increased in recent years. In 2021, 16 were recorded and in 2022 the number increased to 21.

The figure reached 32 cases last year, when the union multiplied its demands for government mental health support for law enforcement officers.
