According to the National Civil Police (PNC) in the last four days there were no violence-related deaths in the country, after Monday closed without murders.
Police statistics show that more than 700 days have passed this month without a single report of deaths caused by criminal gangs, which ratifies the effectiveness of government actions, as part of the Territorial Control Plan and the exception regime.
Currently, El Salvador is considered one of the safest in the world, after years of being haunted by a high homicide rate, which the government policy seeks to reduce to 1.5 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants.
Meanwhile, actions continue to harass organized crime throughout the country. The day before, the Minister of Justice and Security, Gustavo Villatoro, reported the capture of a leader of the MS-13 gang in Metapan district, in North Santa Ana, where he was trying to activate the criminal group.
Polices seized a pistol and ammunition from the gang member, identified as Jorgelino Argueta Mejía, alias Lino, said the minister.
