Italians donate air tickets for Cuba’s blind baseball team

Rome, Sep 24 (Prensa Latina) The National Italy-Cuba Friendship Association (Anaic) has made a donation in support of the Cuban Blind Baseball team that will play in the II World Cup, a spokesman said today.

Marco Papacci, president of Anaic, told Prensa Latina that his organization is proud to have financially contributed for the purchase of air tickets for the Cuban team to attend the event, to be hosted by the United Kingdom from September 27 through 29.

The call to collect funds for the Cuban players came from the Italian Association of Baseball for the Blind (Aibxc), whose president, Alberto Mazzanti, thanked Anaic for its contribution.

The Aibxc contributed 12,000 Euros, while Anaic forked out 3,650 Euros and other donors sent through bank transfers to complete 1,650 Euros, according to the note sent by Mazzanti.

The world event will be played in Buckinghamshire, London, attended by teams from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, the United States, Cuba, China, Hungary, Pakistan, Tanzania and Italy, the country that won the Cup’s first edition, held in 2022 in the Dutch town of Beek.
