The three-day strike will cover Family Health Centers, rural health centers, emergency services and mental health clinics, among other facilities. However, during the days of stoppage, workers will maintain some shifts in the facilities for the delivery of milk and medicines and attention to serious cases.
According to the president of Confusam, Gabriela Flores, the union is also demanding that the government keep its promise and include them in the discussions on the reform and universalization of health care.
Flores also insisted on the need to give greater protection to workers in the face of criminal situations and violence against them by some users.
“Health workers risk their lives every day in the face of violence, they wait for their incentive for months and even years and they want to participate in the changes of the reform. But they can no longer wait,” Flores said.
A march of the sector’s employees is scheduled for Tuesday along La Alameda avenue, in downtown Santiago.
