Six died, 10 unaccounted for after rainfall in Japan

Tokyo, Sep 23 (Prensa Latina) Six people were killed, and ten remained unaccounted for after the unprecedented rainfall in the Japanese prefecture of Ishikawa, in Honshu island, local authorities reported on Monday.

Police agents said two people were swept away by the rivers, one in Noto village, and the other in Suzu city.

NHK informed that two of ten workers trapped near a landslide-hit tunnel died. The bodies were found under the rubble of a house collapsed by those landslides.

As a result of landslides and other damages caused by the rains, 115 villages in Ishikawa Prefecture were inaccessible, and thousands of households lost water service temporarily due to a series of cuts and damaged pipes.

Among the worst-hit regions are Noto village, and Wajima and Suzu cities.
