Soyuz MS-25 is scheduled to begin decelerating and, after descending from orbit, split into modules about half an hour later, after which the capsule with three crew members will touch down about 147 kilometers southeast of the city of Zhezkazgan in Kazakhstan, Roscosmos told the press.
The spacecraft is bringing back Russians Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub, from Roscosmos, and Tracy Dyson, from NASA.
For Kononenko this was the fifth space expedition: this Russian cosmonaut is the first man to accumulate more than 1,000 days in orbit, 1,111 to date.
In the case of Nikolai Chub, who arrived at the ISS with Kononenko in the Soyuz MS-24 spacecraft on September 15, 2023, this was the first mission. Both now hold the record for the longest continuous stay aboard the ISS: 374 days.
Their U.S. colleague, Tracy Dyson, spent a total of 373 days in orbit in three expeditions, including the one that ends today.
Currently aboard the ISS are Alexei Ovchinin, Ivan Vagner and Alexandr Grebenkin of Roscosmos, as well as Donald Pettit, Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, Jeanette Epps, Barry Wilmore and Sunita Williams of NASA.

Moscú, 23 sep (Prensa Latina) La nave Soyuz MS-25, con tres tripulantes a bordo, desatracó de la Estación Espacial Internacional (EEI) para iniciar el viaje de vuelta a la Tierra, reportó hoy la agencia espacial de Rusia, Roscosmos.
Está previsto que la Soyuz MS-25 empiece a desacelerar y, tras descender de la órbita, se divida en módulos una media hora más tarde, y despues la cápsula con tres tripulantes tocará tierra a unos 147 kilómetros al sureste de la ciudad de Zhezkazgan, en Kazajstán, precisó Roscosmos a la prensa.
La nave trae de regreso a los rusos Oleg Kononenko y NIkolái Chub, de Roscosmos, y a la estadounidense Tracy Dyson, de la NASA.
Para Kononenko esta fue la quinta expedición espacial: este cosmonauta ruso es el primer hombre que acumuló más de mil días en órbita, mil 111 hasta la fecha.
En el caso de Nikolái Chub, que llegó a la EEI con Kononenko en la nave Soyuz MS-24 el 15 de septiembre de 2023, esta ha sido la primera misión. Ambos ostentan hoy el récord de permanencia continuada a bordo de la EEI: 374 días.
Su colega estadounidense, Tracy Dyson, pasó en órbita un total de 373 días en tres expediciones, incluida la que termina hoy.
