Russian scientists develop engine prototypes to explore space

Moscow, Sep 23 (Prensa Latina) Mikhail Kovalchuk, director of the Kurchatov Institute, Russia's leading research and development institution in nuclear energy and molecular physics, affirmed on Monday that they have developed prototypes of rocket engines for exploring space.

Kovalchuk made this comment during a meeting with President Vladimir Putin and confirmed that they have engine prototypes that provide a completely different thrust and capabilities for space flights, TASS reported.

The scientist specified that the new engines are a response to Russia’s growing space exploration.

Founded on April 12, 1943, to create nuclear weapons for the Soviet Union, the Kurchatov Institute became the ancestor of many unique peaceful technologies and scientific fields. Its staff solved several pressing problems of fundamental physics.
