The news agency, which based its information on data from the customs services of both countries, said that Moscow supplied 872,000 tons of LNG to China in July 2024, the highest monthly volume in the last 12 months.
Although in terms of the volume of LNG supplies to China, Russia ranked third in July only behind Australia (two million tons) and Qatar (1.62 million), by the total volume of gas transported by pipelines and LNG, Moscow maintains the first place with three million 800 billion cubic meters.
Overall, in July 2024, Beijing increased its natural gas imports compared to the same month in 2023, by eight percent.
Similarly, Moscow increased oil supplies to China by more than a quarter. Specifically, shipments from Russia increased in July by 25,6% to 2.21 million barrels per day.
This comes against the backdrop of attempts by Western countries to drive Russian oil and gas out of world markets and damage the Russian economy.
