According to the president of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba (parliament), Esteban Lazo, the process, which runs from September 20 to November 15, has special significance in the complex socio-economic scenario the nation is facing.
While participating in one of the inaugural assemblies, in the municipality of Arroyo Naranjo in the capital, where he is a deputy, the president of the Council of State also described the process as a new demonstration of true people’s power.
He pointed out that the solution of the accumulated problems that directly affect the daily life of the population does not depend only on the management of the delegate, but they are of an objective nature in the context of the war economy situation faced by the country.
In turn, the Secretary of Organization of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Roberto Morales, deputy for the municipality of Cienfuegos, emphasized in that territory the support that the people’s representatives must have in their work, going from the administrative structures, the organizations and up to the PCC.
Despite the difficult circumstances of the context in which the process is taking place, it is necessary this popular democratic exchange, from which solutions must come out, because the wisdom of the people is incalculable, he said.
The process of accountability of the delegate to his electors takes place in one of the most tense moments in the history of Cuba, due to the shortages and deformations in the Cuban economy, surrounded and persecuted by the U.S. blockade in its purpose of subverting the revolutionary process in the country.
Such policy prevents access to fuel, resources, financing and hinders socio-economic development, to which are added problems of administrative management within the nation.
