While giving priority to sustainable development, we must also guarantee human well-being, food and health security, said the Indian head of government on the second and last day of the United Nations Future Summit.
He stressed that the success of humanity depends on collective strength and not on the battlefield and that reforms of global institutions are essential to achieve the coexistence of peace and progress.
Modi argued that India demonstrated the possibility of sustainable development by lifting 250 million people out of poverty and assured that the South Asian nation is ready to share that experience of success.
He added that the permanent membership of the Group of 20 (G20) granted to the African Union at the New Delhi Summit in August 2023 was an important step in terms of reforms in international institutions.
The Indian Prime Minister warned that cyber, maritime and space spheres are becoming new arenas of conflict while terrorism continues to be a threat to global peace and security.
Taking these issues into account, Modi stressed that action must be on a par with global ambition.
In addition, the head of government considered necessary a balanced regulation for the safe and responsible use of technologies, and a global digital governance that guarantees the safeguarding of national sovereignty and integrity.
The public digital infrastructure must be a bridge and not a barrier, he said.
He also offered to share India’s unique digital infrastructure and ratified his country’s commitment to protect the rights of humanity for global prosperity.
