Speaking at the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement, the Cuban top diplomat hailed Palestine’s soon entry as a full member of the United Nations (UN).
“We will continue to contribute to legitimate international efforts to put an end to Israeli genocide in Palestine,” he remarked.
Rodriguez denounced the US and others’ complicity with the Israeli offensive, which has caused more than 40,000 deaths, the destruction of a large part of homes, hospitals and civilian infrastructure, as well as the displacement of nearly 1.9 million people in Gaza.
He also condemned the deprivation of access to basic services to the civilian population, in flagrant violation of International Humanitarian Law.
“The protection of the civilian population is a priority. It is urgent to reach an immediate and permanent ceasefire,” he said.
The top representative of Cuban diplomacy demanded guarantees for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people while recognizing the important work of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, known as Unrwa.
Rodriguez pointed out the NAM should insist upon a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, based on the creation of two separate states, which would allow the Palestinian people to exert self determination and have their own independent state within the borders recognized prior to 1967.
