Spokesperson Lin Jian noted that the “quadrilateral mechanism” has been defined by Washington as the leading regional mechanism in its Indo-Pacific strategy and is a tool to contain China and maintain the US hegemony.
Lin stated that this strategy “attempts to foster an anti-China consensus by exaggerating the China threat and fostering maritime cooperation by resorting to well-known tactics.”
“The United States has repeatedly said it is not targeting China, but the first issue of the summit was China, and China was mentioned everywhere. This is blatant lying, and even the US media does not believe it,” the spokesperson stated.
Commenting on this summit’s reference to the South Sea situation, the spokesperson assured that some countries outside the region are forming “small circles” and renewing tactics to meddle in China’s maritime affairs.
He noted that the intention is to boost a bloc confrontation, escalate the situation, and undermine regional peace and stability.
