Buenos Aires, Sep 23 (Prensa Latina) The Argentinean State Workers Association (ATE) will hold a federal plenary meeting to define protest actions against another wave of layoffs scheduled for the end of this month.

According to a statement from that organization, the meeting will begin at 14:00, local time, at the Eva Perón amphitheater, in this capital city, and more than a thousand delegates are expected to attend.

The conclave has as its axis the deepening of the action plan in view of a new expiration of the contracts of 65 thousand people in the public administration, the meager salary increase imposed, the intensification of the criminalization of social protest and the threat of a criminal complaint against the secretary general of ATE, Rodolfo Aguiar, according to the document.

According to the grouping, on the 30th the contracts of workers, “whose labor ties, extremely precarious, are extended every three months, in the framework of a fierce adjustment plan that has been carried out since December 10, 2023”.

“In spite of the fact that Justice in repeated rulings gave us the reason, the Government insists on producing illegal layoffs, affecting the constitutional right to stability in public employment”, Aguiar affirmed.

The union leader explained that the measures of force to be defined will also be aimed at denouncing the approval of a salary increase of only two percent in September and one in October, as well as the threat of closing the 2024 ¨paritaria¨ (negotiation) without new increases.
