Bulky agenda for Panamanian president in New York

Panama City, Sep 22 (Prensa Latina) Panamanian President, José Raúl Mulino, will have a busy schedule in New York, where he will give his first speech as president at the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations, an official statement said today.

According to a communiqué from the Palacio de las Garzas (headquarters of the Executive), the president will attend meetings with financial corporations and business associations of the United States, including the Council of the Americas (COA).

He will also participate in the annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative and the Concordia Annual Summit, which brings together the most prominent business, government and non-profit leaders in the world in search of dialogue and effective alliances.

Mulino will deliver a speech tomorrow Monday at the “Summit of the Future”, which aims to negotiate a Pact for the Future, a document which purports to strengthen global cooperation and to seek a model of adaptation to current challenges for the benefit of all and future generations.

Later on, he will attend the inauguration of the UN Assembly and the first forum of this event, entitled “Innovating for a sustainable future”, organized by Canada and the European Commission.

On Wednesday, he will attend the meeting of the Security Council, of which Panama will be a non-permanent member from January 2025 and whose central theme will be “Peacekeeping” and then will be received by the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres.

In his speech before the UN General Assembly, according to advances, Mulino will emphasize the fight against illegal migration and the rejection of discriminatory tax lists, with the aim of establishing positions in front of 193 member countries of this organization.

The Panamanian president’s agenda also includes bilateral meetings with the Prime Minister of Greece, Kiriakos Mitsotakis; the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky and a reception offered by the President of the United States, Joe Biden.
